Joy Again - Song and Dance Review

Release Date: July 26, 2024

Joy Again’s Song and Dance—their first album in a decade and presumably their last—carries all the cheeky grit that has defined their sound. Leading up to its release, they dropped three singles, giving a solid preview of the LP’s style. While those tracks were great, I actually found myself enjoying the last four alternative-leaning songs the most.

The album as a whole sounds exactly like Joy Again—because, well, that’s who they are. It delivers their signature style, full of playful energy and emotional undercurrents. Yet, for some reason, I rarely find myself listening to it in full. While the album has emotional dynamics woven throughout, I haven’t personally attached too many feelings to the songs. That said, I still appreciate them for putting out this record—it’s a fitting send-off, if it really is their last.

Favorite Song(s): Call me all the time, Carolina, Today’s The Day
