The Dinosaur Skin - I dig You Review

Release Date: October 23, 2024

This might be the most unique find of 2024. The Dinosaur Skin is a band unlike any other—formed by members Trex and Triceratops, two dinosaurs from the Cretaceous period who survived the mass extinction and somehow traveled through a wormhole to modern-day Taipei. Despite being 65 million years old, they don’t let their age hold them back. Their songs tackle classic Jurassic-era struggles, from impending comet disasters to the timeless pursuit of love.

At its core, I love this album. It’s such a fun and brilliantly executed concept. The groovy, dreamlike production makes you forget the dinosaur gimmick entirely—until you check the tracklist and realize that the hauntingly beautiful song you’re listening to is called WaitForYouToKissMyFrill, with lyrics entirely rooted in prehistoric romance. It’s clever, creative, and surprisingly emotional. I can’t wait to see where they take this absurd yet strangely captivating journey next.
