Bad Bad Hats’ self-titled album is exactly what you’d expect from them—fun, catchy, and effortlessly enjoyable. However, its release felt somewhat lost in the ever-growing wave of indie albums this year.
Listening to it front to back, there aren’t any skips, and a few tracks have definitely lingered in my head. But what this album lacks is a clear standout banger—something on the level of Detroit Basketball or Walkman. While it’s great to see Bad Bad Hats still going strong with their fourth album, I can’t help but wonder if they’ll push their sound further in future releases. This record sticks very close to their signature style, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I’d love to hear them evolve a bit more.
