Off the Cob by Hey Cowboy! is a dreamy, immersive journey that isn’t afraid to explore new and unconventional sounds. The music often feels simple yet ethereal, creating a hazy atmosphere that lingers long after listening. One of my favorite moments is the understated drumline in Mesmerize—it’s nothing flashy, but it locks in perfectly with the bass and vocals, making for an effortlessly hypnotic groove.
My only reservation with this album is that I have to be in a certain mood to fully enjoy it. It’s not something I can throw on anytime, but when the moment is right, it absolutely hits. That being said, Hey Cowboy! is carving out a sound entirely their own, and I’m excited to hear where they take it next.
