Dora Jar - No way to Relax when you’re on fire Review

Release Date: September 13, 2024

No Way to Relax When You’re on Fire is easily one of the best indie LPs of the year. From front to back, it’s solid—reflective yet confidently delivered. Dora Jar has a way of making her music feel both intimate and surreal, and this album is a perfect showcase of that.

The She Loves Me to Puppet transition might be one of the best six minutes on any album, period. When I saw her live, she flipped the order—starting with She Loves Me and closing with Puppet—which was a great choice. The whole record highlights her unique, off-kilter vocal style and unconventional production choices, making for an amazing debut.

Favorite Song(s): She loves me, Puppet, This is Why, holy Water
